It has been alleged that substandard bricks were used in the drain construction work at Syedpur in Nilphamari. The locals stopped the work of the drain and removed the low quality hot. In the face of resistance, the chairman of the union council was forced to remove the low quality bricks used for the construction of the drain. The incident took place on Monday (May 18) at around 3 pm in Botlagari union of the upazila.

It can be seen on the ground that the chairman of the union council Moniruzzaman Sarkar June is constructing a 216 feet or 6 meter long drain in Kacharipara Chaiyarmor area under LGSP-3 project. He is doing this work himself with an allocation of around 2 lakh rupees. Here low quality bricks are used for drain soling. In case of casting on top of soling, worse brick cobble (gitti) and cement less sand is given more. About a quarter of the work has been soldered and cast on the first day.
In this situation, when the rest of the work started again on the same day with the low quality bricks and cobblestones, the locals demanded the proper use of good materials as per the schedule. If not, there is no need to build a drain. In view of this, the UP chairman was forced to remove the low quality bricks laid in Soling and started working with good bricks.
Shafiyar Rahman and Hafizul Islam, two residents of the area, said, “We elected Moniruzzaman Sarkar in June with selfless cooperation with money and labor.” But now he is doing a job in our area with low quality materials. Which was protested by the locals. As a result, the chairman is replacing the soling bricks. But in the case of casting, they are still using low quality cobbles and giving less cement with more sand. As a result, the construction work of the drain is becoming very weak. As a result, there is a risk of its durability decreasing. The chairman is threatening us for talking like this. There seems to be no coincidence with the expectation that we chose him.
Moniruzzaman Sarkar, chairman of the Botlagari Union Parishad, said, “Those who have supported my vote with money and labor are opposing me today.” Asked why he did, he said he did not know. Regarding the irregularities in the construction of the drain, he said that the bricks have been changed in the light of the complaints of the locals. It is not possible to work with better materials with that little allocation. If people are not satisfied then I have nothing to do.
