Kaunia police have recovered the body of an unidentified woman floating in the river water from under the Teesta Sarat bridge at Kaunia in Rangpur.
On Thursday morning, locals on the east side of the Teesta Bridge in Kaunia saw a body floating in the river and informed the police. Upon receiving the news, Kaunia police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
According to the locals, the police were informed when they saw a dead body floating in the river while fishing in the river in the morning. Police later went to the spot and recovered the body.
Kaunia Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Masumur Rahman said the body was recovered and sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. The deceased has not been identified yet. The body will be handed over if family members are found. He said it would be known after the autopsy whether it was murder or drowning.
