The death toll from a horrific explosion at a BM container depot in Chittagong’s Sitakunda has risen to 19. In addition, several hundred more were injured. Chittagong Superintendent of Police SM Rashidul Haque confirmed the information.

A horrific explosion took place at BM container depot adjacent to Kashem Jute Mill in Sonaichhari area of ​​Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong on Saturday night.

According to police, fire service and local sources, a fire broke out in an imported container at the container depot in Kadmarsul area of ​​Sonaichhari around 9 pm. In a short time it spread to different containers.

Upon receiving the news, Kumira and Sitakunda fire service officials went to the spot and started working to control the fire. The fire came under control around 11 pm. Then suddenly there was a huge explosion in a chemical loaded container. The injured were rescued and taken to different hospitals.
According to the latest news from our correspondent, this horror has defeated all the events of the commemoration period. Firefighters could not be reached for comment. Not all of their training worked. However, when the Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defense arrived at the scene this morning, the work of extinguishing the fire started with new vigor.

Concerned people have confirmed that there are 3 fire service personnel among the 19 bodies recovered. The bodies of the dead were mutilated and their identities were not known.
